About The River School
The River School is located in northwest Washington DC, west of Georgetown and is convenient to the Maryland and Virginia suburbs. MacArthur Boulevard offers the advantages of a neighborhood setting along with a public library, stores, and parks.
The River School is a community of individuals rather than a building or a campus. It is a group of educators, children, parents, specialists, grandparents, administrators, and friends dedicated to providing the very best in early childhood and elementary education. They represent a variety of perspectives, experiences and backgrounds, but we all connect through the goal of helping our children.
The River School is open to all children from 18 months through third grade. The admission process includes a parent tour of the school, applicant play visit, submission of school transcripts, school reports, and a teacher recommendation, when applicable. Testing is required for children who are four years of age and older. Application and fee is due January 20 for the following school year. Admission decisions are made by mid-March. Applicants are notified by mail.
The River School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religious affiliation, gender, ethnic or national origin in the administration of its admission, financial aid and other school-administered programs.
